The task behind the project
Schulmittag is the public entry point to MealTime. It connects parent registration, daily school and care workflows, kitchen quantities and municipal billing. I handle technical development and operations; Sebastian Kern leads the product.
As of 11 October 2026, Stoicera lists MealTime as being in pilot operation. A possible rollout is discussed with each institution. Pilot status does not mean that every institution is already in full routine operation.
An isolated instance and database are planned per organisation. Parent, administration and kitchen interfaces support different tasks; reports and exports connect daily work to billing. Current scope and rollout status are on Stoicera’s project page.
From registration to billing.
My contribution is MealTime’s technical development and operation. Sebastian Kern is responsible for the product.
Parents register meals
Meal plans, menu choices and absences are available through the mobile interface.
Administration coordinates
A daily overview and bookings bring the administrative tasks together.
The kitchen plans quantities
Daily lists support the kitchen and meal service. The exact scope is agreed for each organisation.
Prepare billing
Daily and monthly reports and K5 export support financial administration.
Status & limitations
MealTime is in pilot operation. Stoicera names January 2027 for the regular rollout. The public product tour shows a fictional demo organisation; it is not evidence of measured time savings.

Thinking beyond the work
From prototype to operation: what to clarify before real use
An application runs. But who maintains it, notices errors and restores data? Six questions for the transition from demonstration to daily use.
One instance per institution
Why Schulmittag uses separate instances, the responsibility this creates and why isolation alone does not guarantee security.
Who builds, answers
The sentence we work by, and what it costs. Responsibility in software, teaching and under your own name.
Software for municipalities: what digitisation really needs
School meals on paper, spoken registrations, manual billing. What building Schulmittag taught me about municipal digitisation.
Why we use fixed prices
An hourly rate rewards slowness. A fixed price rewards clarity. Why at Stoicera we owe a result, not hours.
